CERVICAL CANCER TREATMENT
Cervical cancer treatment depends on the stage, size, and location of the tumor, as well as the patient's overall health.
1. SURGERY:
- Hysterectomy (removal of uterus)
- Radical trachelectomy (removal of cervix and upper vagina)
- Cone biopsy (removal of abnormal cells)
2. RADIATION THERAPY:
- External beam radiation
- Brachytherapy (internal radiation)
3. CHEMOTHERAPY:
- Cisplatin, paclitaxel, and topotecan are common medications
4. TARGETED THERAPY:
- Bevacizumab (Avastin) for advanced stages
5. IMMUNOTHERAPY:
- Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) for advanced stages
