WATER RETENTION AND ITS CAUSES
Water retention is a condition where the body holds onto excess fluid in the tissues, leading to swelling, most commonly in the hands, feet, ankles, or legs.
CAUSES OF WATER RETENTION
-High Salt Intake: Eating too much sodium makes the body hold water.
-Hormonal Changes: especially before menstruation or during pregnancy.
-Standing or Sitting Too Long: Slows blood flow and causes fluid buildup.
Certain Medications: Like steroids, birth control pills, or blood pressure drugs.
Heart, Kidney, or Liver Problems: Can cause the body to retain fluid.
Lack of Physical Activity: Reduces circulation and fluid drainage.
