WHAT IS DEHYDRATION?
Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in, causing an imbalance in the body's water and electrolyte levels.
This can happen for various reasons, such as:
* Inadequate fluid intake
* Excessive sweating (e.g., during intense exercise or in hot weather)
* Diarrhea or vomiting
* Fever
* Certain medications
* Underlying medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, kidney disease)
If left untreated, dehydration can cause:
_ Heat stroke
_ Kidney damage
_ Seizures
_ Hypovolemic shock (a life-threatening condition)
