WHAT IS HYDRATION?
Hydration is the process of replacing fluids in the body to maintain proper bodily functions.
It involves drinking enough water and other fluids to:
1. Replace lost fluids (e.g., through sweating, urination, and breathing)
2. Maintain fluid balance in cells, tissues, and organs.
3. Support physical performance and cognitive function.
4. Regulate body temperature.
5. Transport nutrients and oxygen to cells.
6. Remove waste products.
Aim to drink at least 8-10 cups (64-80 ounces) of fluid per day, and adjust according to individual needs, activity level, and climate.
Remember, hydration is a continuous process, and it's essential to drink fluids regularly throughout the day.
