Army Rescues 17 Kidnap Victims In Zamfara
Troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI have rescued 17 kidnap victims in Zamfara State.
A statement signed by the force's Information Officer, Yahaya Ibrahim, on Friday revealed that the victims were rescued in different operations by the troops during the week.
The statement revealed that four male victims were rescued on Monday, September 11, following a distress call on kidnapping of persons by armed bandits at Bunkasau village in Bukkuyum LGA of the state.
Similarly, eight kidnapped victims who were in captivity for eight weeks were rescued on Wednesday, September 13, after escaping the Gando forest "due to the recent offensive operation and constant fighting patrol along the fringes of the forest".
It further disclosed that two victims were rescued on Thursday, September 14, when the troops thwarted a kidnap attempt in Shinkafi Local Government Area, and three other victims, who were held captive at Dangajeru forest, were also rescued during a routine patrol after they had "successfully escaped due to due to the intensified clearance operation by troops within the area".
The rescued victims were successfully reunited with their families as the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, called on the people to continuously providing timely information to the troops.
