American Actor Treat Williams Dies In Motorcycle Crash At 71

American actor and author, Treat Williams, has died at age 71 after being involved in a motorcycle accident.

Williams's agent of over 15 years, Barry McPherson, confirmed the actor's death on Monday evening, PEOPLE reported on Tuesday.

McPherson said, "He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right and a car cut him off. I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy and was so talented.

"He was an actor's actor. Filmmakers loved him. He's been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s.

"He was really proud of his performance this year. He's been so happy with the work that I got him. He's had a balanced career."

The fire chief for Dorset, Jacob Gribble, revealed that the crash happened on Monday around 5 pm on along 30 by Long Trail Auto near Dorset, Vermont.

Gribble said, "The incident involved a single car and Williams' motorcycle. Investigators believe the driver of the car was turning and didn’t see the motorcycle.

"The motorcyclist was the only person hurt and a LifeNet helicopter was summoned to airlift him to a hospital in New York."

The star of 'Everwood' and 'Hair,' career started in 1975 when he made his film debut in the thriller Deadly Hero and from there, he began to take on more film roles, including 1976's The Ritz and The Eagle Has Landed.
