TYPES OF MILLET AND THEIR USES 

1. FOXTAIL MILLET: It contains blood sugar balancing healthy carbohydrates. The iron and calcium content present in it also helps strengthen immunity. 

2. FINGER MILLET/RAGI: It is a more common name for finger millet. It is used as a healthier cereal substitute for rice and wheat. 

3. PEARL MILLET/BAJRA: It is incredibly nutrient-dense. It contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium, protein, fibre, and iron. 

4. BUCKWHEAT: It is good for weight lose . It makes for a healthy food option for diabetes, helps lower blood pressure, and improves cardiovascular health. 

5. LITTLE MILLET: It is also an excellent option for those looking to lose weight. It is high in fibre and filled with numerous minerals such as potassium, zinc, iron, and calcium. 

6. SORGHUM MILLET: It is a grain that is often used for baking and especially flatbreads and cakes, or ground down to a meal for porridge but it can be made into a syrup and used as a sweetener. 

7. FONIO MILLET: Also known as findi or acha, is an ancient grain that is grown across a swathe of North and West Africa. It is drought and disease resistant and highly nutritious. It is easy to cook, delicious and nutritious.

8. BROWNTOP MILLET: It is traditionally grown in India where it has been used to make sweet desserts. It is grown for a variety of reasons, including for fodder, or to combat soil erosion or desertification. 

9. AMARANTH MILLET: It is a pseudo-grain native to Mexico. Rich in protein, dietary fibre, pantothenic acid, B-vitamins, iron, phosphorus, zinc, magnesium and manganese, it is gluten-free and easy to cook. 

10. KODO MILLET: As a versatile millet it can be ground into flour and used to make many dishes such as dli, dosa, pongal, khichdi, snacks, porridge.
